BOND AND KEY
BOND AND KEY
Bond and Key: water-based keying agent for plaster adhesion
Rhinoluxe Bond and Key is a high-strength, water-based bonding and keying agent that improves plaster adhesion on smooth and dense surfaces. It creates a strong mechanical key so plaster and screeds grip properly, giving a durable, reliable result on walls, concrete and other tricky substrates.
Key Benefits
- Creates a plaster key. Gives smooth, dense surfaces a grip for plaster and screed.
- High strength. A strong bond that improves durability.
- Water-based. Low odour and easy water cleanup.
- Reliable adhesion. Reduces the risk of plaster debonding.
- Versatile. Suits walls, concrete and dense substrates.
Technical Overview
Bond and Key is a polymer keying agent. Applied to a smooth or dense surface, it leaves a tacky, textured film that plaster and cementitious screeds mechanically key into, where they would otherwise struggle to bond. This prevents hollow, drummy or debonded plaster and gives a stronger, longer-lasting substrate for the finish.
Specifications

Technical Guidance
Make sure the surface is clean and free of dust, oil and loose material. Apply Bond and Key evenly and allow it to become tacky per the product guidance, then plaster or screed onto the keyed surface. Do not over-thin, as this weakens the key.

Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
What is plaster key used for?
A plaster key is applied to smooth or dense surfaces to create a mechanical grip so plaster or screed bonds instead of debonding.
-
Does it stop plaster debonding?
Yes, the mechanical key helps prevent hollow or debonded plaster.
-
What surfaces is it for?
Smooth or dense surfaces such as concrete and walls that need a plaster key.
-
Is it high strength?
Yes, it is a high-strength keying agent that improves durability.
-
Is Bond and Key water-based?
Yes, it is water-based with low odour and easy water cleanup.
-
How do I improve plaster adhesion on smooth surfaces?
Apply Bond and Key first to create a strong mechanical key for the plaster.
