PREMIUM ROOF AND WALL COAT
PREMIUM ROOF AND WALL COAT
Long-life acrylic roof and wall paint.
Between the blistering summer sun, coastal air and sudden downpours, your roof and walls work harder than almost any surface on your property. Rhinoluxe Premium Roof and Wall Coat is a new-generation acrylic made to keep up. Whether you are a homeowner refreshing tired tiles or a contractor coating an IBR warehouse, it rolls on smoothly, holds its colour for years, and seals the surface. Goes on clay and concrete tiles, fibre-cement board, primed IBR sheeting and corrugated iron, and primed plaster and cement walls.
Key Benefits
- Stands up to the African sun. UV-stable pigments keep your colour looking rich rather than faded and chalky, season after season.
- Protects for up to 10 years. Applied correctly over a well-prepared surface, it keeps working for a decade or more — so you repaint far less often.
- Flexible and waterproof. The film stretches with a roof's daily heat-and-cool instead of cracking, while staying highly water-resistant to keep the wet out.
- Easy to live with. Low-odour, dirt-shedding (rain helps rinse it clean) and fast-drying — two coats can go on in a single day.
Technical Overview
At its core is an acrylic resin emulsion chosen for elasticity and adhesion across both porous and non-porous surfaces. Applied in 2–3 coats to build a 100–120 micron dry film, it forms a continuous, breathable membrane that moves with thermal expansion rather than cracking. UV-stable pigments resist fading and chalking, the dirt-shedding surface discourages algae and mould, and the water-based formula keeps VOC levels low in line with EU regulations — easier on the applicator and the environment.

Technical Guidance
A little timing goes a long way. Stir the paint to a smooth, creamy consistency and apply it un-thinned — adding water only weakens the colour and coverage. Work in the cooler, shaded parts of the roof early in the morning or late in the afternoon, and avoid painting between 10am and 2pm or when rain is expected within 4–6 hours. New cement or clay tiles are thirsty, so dampen them first and expect the first coat to use more product. If there is rust, take the metal back to bright steel with Rhinoluxe Rust Remover and prime with Zinc Phosphate Primer before you start coating.

Questions & Answers
Have a Question?
-
Where can I buy Rhinoluxe roof paint in South Africa?
You can buy Premium Roof and Wall Coat directly from the Rhinoluxe Shopify store or our Table View and Edenvale paint shops. We offer local delivery and bulk 20L pricing for contractors across the Western Cape and Gauteng.
-
Is this roof paint safe and low-VOC?
Yes, Rhinoluxe Premium Roof and Wall Coat is non-flammable, contains no toxic substances and has low VOC levels that conform to EU regulations. It is water-based with low odour for comfortable application.
-
Can it be applied over rusted metal?
Yes, once the rust is treated. Clean rust-affected areas back to bright metal with Rhinoluxe Rust Remover, rinse thoroughly, then prime with Zinc Phosphate Primer before applying 2–3 coats.
-
Can I paint my roof in summer?
Yes, but avoid the hottest part of the day. Work in the shadow areas in the early morning and late afternoon, and avoid coating between 10am and 2pm or when rain is expected within 4–6 hours.
-
How many coats do I need?
Apply 2–3 coats to reach the recommended 100–120 micron dry film thickness. Two coats can be applied in one day, with about 2 hours between coats (3 hours in winter).
-
What colours are available?
You can choose from 15 standard colours: Grey White, Traffic White, Light Ivory, Beige, Grey Beige, Signal Grey, Basalt Grey, Anthracite Grey, Black, Beige Red, Oxide Red, Copper Brown, Chocolate Brown, Moss Green and Heritage Green. Each is available in 1L, 5L and 20L, and we can tint to your specification with RAL colour matching available.
-
Do I need to prime first?
Bare metal must be degreased and primed with ZP4 or Zinc Phosphate Primer, and chalky or porous plaster sealed with Multiprime or Alkaline Plaster Primer. Sound, previously painted surfaces can be coated directly after a thorough clean.
-
How often should you paint your roof?
With a quality acrylic like this, a properly prepared roof only needs recoating roughly every 10 years. Inspect annually for cracks, fading or biological growth and spot-repair as needed.
-
What surfaces can I paint?
It is ideal for new and previously painted concrete or clay tiles, primed fibre-cement board, primed IBR sheeting and corrugated iron, and primed plaster and cement walls.
-
Is this roof paint waterproof?
Yes, Rhinoluxe Premium Roof and Wall Coat forms a highly water-resistant, flexible film that seals roofs and walls against rain. For ponding water or a full waterproofing system, prepare the surface first with Rhinoluxe Sealflex or Sealflex Fiber.
-
Can I use this roof paint on walls?
Yes. Premium Roof and Wall Coat is formulated for both roofs and exterior plaster or cement walls, giving you one durable, UV-resistant acrylic finish for the entire exterior.
-
How much roof paint do I need?
Allow roughly 8 m² per litre per coat on smooth or previously painted surfaces. New cement or clay tiles are absorbent, so budget about 2 m²/litre for the first coat and 3–4 m²/litre for subsequent coats, applying 2–3 coats. It comes in 1L for small jobs and touch-ups, 5L, and 20L for full roofs and contractor work.
-
How long does roof paint last?
Rhinoluxe Premium Roof and Wall Coat lasts up to 10 years when correctly applied to a properly prepared substrate. The final lifespan depends on film thickness and surface preparation, with thicker multi-coat applications lasting longer in harsh South African conditions.
