Glossy Wood Copal Varnish: hard, glossy varnish for interior and exterior wood

Rhinoluxe Glossy Wood Copal Varnish is a premium, high-build wood varnish made from natural copal resins. It forms a hard, glossy, water-resistant film on timber that protects against moisture, UV and surface wear while bringing out the natural grain. It is available in Clear plus three wood tints — Teak, Mahogany and Dark Oak.

Key Benefits

  • Hard, glossy film. A tough, film-forming finish that resists scratches and spills.
  • Water- and UV-resistant. Protects timber from moisture and sun.
  • Interior and exterior. Furniture, doors, frames, bar tops and fascias.
  • Enhances the grain. Adds depth while showing the natural wood.
  • Clear or tinted. Clear, Teak, Mahogany and Dark Oak.

Technical Overview

Copal Varnish is a film-forming varnish built on natural copal resins. Unlike a penetrating oil, it sits on the surface and cures to a hard, glossy layer that shields the wood from scratches, spills and surface wear — ideal for furniture and high-traffic interior wood, and for exterior wood over a suitable primer. Choose the varnish for a glossy, protective film; choose Premium Wood Oil for a penetrating, natural-look finish.

Technical Guidance

Sand the wood smooth and remove dust; sand back any flaking old varnish before recoating. Apply thin, even coats along the grain, allowing each to dry, and lightly sand between coats for the smoothest finish. On exterior wood, use an appropriate primer first. See the TDS for coverage and recoat times.
